I.T. Works was founded in 1996 by Herry Bruins and develops software applications with a view to improving the process of environmental research.
The environmental services sector has been the company's core market from day one. In 1996 little thought had been given to automating soil surveys. This was also quite a new market and subject to constant change and new developments.
BoorManager, I.T. Works' first software application, recently followed by TerraIndex, not only has provided a clear response to a real need, but it also is an excellent solution. In a short period of time, BoorManager has been adopted by 90% of the market in the Benelux. The total solution offered by I.T. Works also has shaped the way that environmental research now is carried out in practice. The company, I.T. Works, has been involved in a number of major projects: the privatisation of the Netherlands State Railways (SBNS), the highspeed rail line (HSL), the rubbish tip closure programme (NAVOS), and such major redevelopment operations as the Volgermeerpolder.
TerraIndex, and the related concept of ease-of-use, has received our full attention for the past couple of years. The time is ripe for a total, Internet-based, solution that can be used everywhere and without any concern for application administration. This is Software as a Service.
In addition to this expansion into service delivery, there is further growth to be found in cultivating new markets: a great challenge with great potential.
